Our vision is to emphasize a well-rounded competitive swimming program. A program promoting the physical and social benefits of swimming.
The coaching staff encourages the development of the swimmer in and out of the water by offering character-building programs in conjunction with the sport of swimming. Our desire is to develop lifelong swimmers who maintain a love for teamwork, sportsmanship and competition.
This program is for swimmers who have displayed movement towards or achievement of YMCA National Level Time Standards. Minimum practice attendance is 80% with the acknowledgment that performance is directly related to attendance and effort. Character building programs are available to these swimmers to assist in the development of the whole swimmer – in and out of the water. Swimmers will most likely be in the upper ability levels of their age group of 12 and over.
Group is for swimmers who have experience in competitive swimming and are in the age ranges of 11 and over. Proficiency in all 4 strokes with prior knowledge of stroke drills and the ability to complete endurance based practices is a must. Must have the personal desire to complete a 1.5-2 hour practice, attend a minimum of 75% of practices is suggested to achieve seasonal improvements. Group is for swimmers with experience in competitive swimming and in the age range of 8-11. Proficiency in all 4 strokes, knowledge of age appropriate drills and the ability to follow directions is essential. Ability to complete a 1 – 1.5 hour practice is expected in addition to the personal desire n to make substantial improvements throughout the season. Group is for the young swimmer new to competitive swimming. It is the next step up from Beginning Barracudas and is part of the competitive swimming team. Knowledge and rudimentary skills in all 4 competitive swimming strokes is essential, must be able to swim multiple laps, ability to kick with a kick board, swim underwater, dive and the ability to follow directions and complete a 45 minute practice is essential. AGE GROUP CUDA's
Group is for the younger swimmer in the age range of 6-9. Practices are geared towards the development of proper stroke technique, introduction to fundamental swimming stroke drills and preparation for competition. Ability to swim all 4 competitive swimming strokes, swim underwater, kick with a kick board, swim 2-4 continuous laps and complete a 1 hour long practice is required.
MINI CUDA'S -
Non Competitive stepping stone introducing the young swimmer and parent to competitive swimming. Swimmer must show proficiency in freestyle, plus show a rudimentary skill and knowledge of backstroke, butterfly and breaststroke. Ability to kick with a kick board, kick on their back, follow directions and show positive interest in swimming a must. Swimmer must be able to swim 25 yards unassisted. This group does not participate in the competitive dual meets and is geared to providing a positive introduction into swimming.
